Experience one of Europe's largest Baroque ancestral galleries and gain fascinating insights into one of the largest private armoury collections.
In addition to the Baroque High Castle, there are Napoleonic-era rifles, cannons and mortars to view in the extensive armoury. Highlights also include the Serbian and Hungarian coronation flags.
About 500 hussar sabre bags from Napoleonic times and the completely preserved equipment of the"Leopoldine Guard", a platoon of honour created on the occasion of the wedding of Leopoldine, daughter of Prince Nicholas II, The exhibited loot from the so-called "Prussian Spoils" - including sabres, carbines, fusilier caps and tents, such as a unique officer's tent made of silk or a crew tent, on which the visible traces of battle from its bloody capture can still be seen today - are impressive contemporary witnesses of Esterházy's military history.
Europe's only Baroque Kunstkammer preserved in its original location also delights with its extensive collection of curiosities.
The highlight of the Esterházy treasury was and still is the collection of silver furniture, which is now one of the largest of its kind in Europe and is presented in the castle in the exhibition area of the ancestral gallery.
The impressive fountain completes the tour of the history of the Esterházy family and their castle.
