Overview:

Explore old Dubai with us. Even though Dubai's history is not very long, it is very impressive. The first Bedouins came to the coast in the late 18th century and found a water source. This first water source is today in the Fort Al Fahidi, the old ruler's fort which is Dubai Museum since 1971. We will have a closer look at the old Al Fahidi district and stroll through the markets, which are called souks here. In Bur Dubai you can try your bargaining skills at the textile market. After a short boat ride on a traditional water taxi, the Abra, we arrive in Deira and explore the spice market and the gold market. Here you should try to get the best prices for all products. Saffron, the most expensive spice in the world, but also cardamom, pepper and turmeric can be bought here at particularly low prices. In the Gold Souk, the largest gold exchange in the Middle East, 200 gold shops are waiting for you. Again, you should always bargain as this is part of the typical Arabic selling behaviour.

After all the sightseeing and markets, you may have started to get a little hungry. Our restaurant for dinner is located in the oldest merchant house on the Creek, the Bait AL Wakil. This is where Dubai's transformation from a Bedouin village to a bustling trading post in the Persian Arabian Gulf once began. Here you can order a typical Arabic dinner with fresh fish, lamb or chicken as well as Southeast Asian dishes.
