In this historically significant and legendary landscape, the Danube flows along lovely villages and steep vineyards.
The old castles tell of the former importance of this area, among them the ruins of Dürnstein, where, according to legend, Richard the Lionheart was held captive, and the heart of the Wachau wine-growing region, the ancient town of Krems.
The highlight of the excursion is a visit to the Benedictine Abbey of Melk, the 'cradle of Austria', one of the most famous baroque buildings in the country.
Wine tasting and / or boat trip on the Danube on request!
