On we go: The classic for a quick overview: 1,111 steps around the Old Town Hall - and, if you wish, an interior tour of a half-timbered house that is over 400 years old.
We start outside the old town at the legendary Horkenstein and follow the course of the medieval town wall before taking a closer look at the most famous sights of the romantic old town with the Zollhaus, Bügeleisenhaus, Old Town Hall and St. George's Church.
When our town walk ends back at the Horkenstein, you will have become acquainted with early fossils, medieval toilets, inner-city fountains and metropolitan town redevelopment plans. In the museum Bügeleisenhaus from 1611, house wells, creaking oak floorboards, low doors and small bull's-eye windows promise pure half-timbered joy!
You will see these places in Hattingen on this city walk: Horkenstein, synagogue site, old town hall, city wall, customs house, Treidelbrunnen, church square, St. George's church, Bügeleisenhaus (deviations are possible).
At the end of the tour we visit - on request - the perhaps most beautiful, but certainly the most famous half-timbered house in the old town of Hattingen: the Bügeleisenhaus with the museum of the Heimatverein Hattingen/Ruhr (admission not included in the price).
The city tour is barrier-free and also suitable for children, parents with prams and seniors with walking aids. This museum visit is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
