Description of Tour

Aquileia has an excavation site from the Roman period of exceptional importance and is therefore on the list of Unesco World Heritage Sites. In no other city - with the exception of Rome - is early Christianity as present as here.

During the 2 hour guided tour we will visit the most important and interesting art monuments:

• the magnificent Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta with a beautiful original mosaic floor of 750 m2 dating back to the fourth century AD and the crypts of the frescoes and crypts of the excavations
• the remains of the Roman forum
• the remains of the mosaic floor of the bishop's palace
• the imposing structures of the ancient river port

Admission to the museum, to the Bishop's Palace or the Basilica is not included in the booking price. For groups of more than 7 people, you will also need to rent headphones to visit the Basilica with me
