In the 1930s, about 16,000 Jews lived in the Bavarian Quarter and almost 6000 of them were murdered by the Nazis. The district of Schöneberg erected a unique memorial for them:
"'Places of Remembrance' in the Bavarian Quarter: Exclusion and Disenfranchisement, Expulsion, Deportation and Murder of Berlin Jews in the Years 1933 to 1945"
We will walk the streets of the quarter and learn about the general persecution process of the Jews from the 80 double-sided signs of the memorial, as well as learn about individual fates of residents of this neighborhood.
