Private city tour
The start time can be arranged individually!
What awaits you?
You have arrived in Porto and want to get to know the most important sights as well as the hidden alleys and life in Porto? Then I can offer you a tour that caters to this and their individual wishes. Discovering Porto together in a group is much more fun than alone.
Whether you have only been in Porto for a few hours and want to get your bearings or whether you already know the city a bit but want to learn more about the city and its people; this tour offers you 3 1/2 hours full of tips, stories, anecdotes and fun.
The city tour is a mixture of visiting the most important sights and corners where you as a tourist without local knowledge rather rarely go. The sightseeing is always combined with background information about the history of Porto and Portugal, as well as with interesting anecdotes.
Your guide: from beautiful Lower Saxony, late twenties, degree (state examination) in history, Spanish and German as a foreign language, lives and works in Porto, experienced in guided tours of all kinds.
Part 1 [Introductory information, tips for going out and the most important sights in the upper city center]
We will start the tour at the City Hall of Porto at the monument of the poet Almeida-Garret, where first introductory information about the city and the country will be given.
It continues through winding streets, past one of the most beautiful bookstore in Europe, the center of the university, to one of the best viewpoints in Porto, overlooking the Baixa and Gaia. This 1st part is supported with many tips to restaurants, bars and cafes, in which they get typical Portuguese food and drink (and not at overpriced prices) as well as anecdotes about the neighborhood and the places.
Part 2 [City tour in the Baixa, the riverfront neighborhoods and strolling along the river Douro]
It goes further down, always towards the river also away from the tourist crowds. At the river we have time to enjoy this wonderful feeling of being right on the river, with a view of the port wine cellars on the other side of the river.
Part 3 [Almost untouched historic quarter below the cathedral the cathedral itself Estação de São Bento]
Experience a quarter where tourism has not yet strayed. The fortified cathedral and the extraordinary view of Porto will lead us to the end of the tour to the train station with walls full of depicted history and ways of life.
Sweeten the end of the tour with a delicious Pastel de Nata.
This tour can also be flexibly adapted to the individual wishes of the participants. Should the participants e.g. want to visit more hidden places and leave out a sight, this is no problem and can be flexibly rescheduled by the guide. The tour in this form is a suggestion that will be implemented if there are no individual wishes. Questions of any kind will be answered, be it about nightlife, history or life in Portugal.
A German-speaking guide is guaranteed!
Also an individually designed tour is possible.
You are welcome to contact me already before the tour.
Children under 6 years do not have to pay anything.
Even if it rains, the tour will be carried out (also a bit of authentic Porto)
Note: Pick-up at the hotel is possible. Please specify your hotel when booking.
The tour goes from the top, down to the water and back up again. So it shouldn't be a problem to climb some stairs as well. Unfortunately, in a city like Porto, this cannot be avoided.
Please choose a date in the calendar and make a request.
