Our travels through this sprawling township set up as a migrant labour camp in the early 1900's trace the sites of the struggle against Apartheid and gives one insight about Soweto's many different faces including the uprisings and resistance against Apartheid. The Freedom Charter which is the blueprint of our constitution was drafted in this great township and so is the commemoration of the 1976 students uprising and massacre which caught the world's attention. We go through the various neibhourhoods which reflect life in all its variety, the contradictions of life.
Rub shoulders with locals and experience the sights and smells.Learn how the communities have changed and developed to what it is today. We will visit and stop at various points to understand what we are seeing before moving on.We drive past by migrant workers hostels/compounds for men which will introduce you to the culture and life today. Our tour drives past Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, the 3rd largest in the world, the Soweto Towers which are 100 meters tall structures.
