Meet up your tour leader at 7.30 in Naples and head towards Caserta, 35km away. Entering Caserta, a magnificent building appears in front of you: the Royal Palace. It was built in mid '700 in a safer place than Naples and able to compete with other European palaces of the time such as Versailles. A guide will lead you withing the apartments and show you the long staircase, the baroque décor and the Palatine Chapel. You will also be astonished by the wide park with its mythological sculptures.
At lunch you are taken to Casertavecchia, a medievall village of 300 inhabitants atop a hill. Enjoy a tasty three course meal with typical local products and have a walk in the historical town centre.
The excursion continues to San Leucio where the Bourbon Ferdinand IV turned the residence into a manufacturing industry. It has produced for decades precious silk present today in the Vatican, Buckingham Palace and White House too.
You are at the end of the excursion and return to Naples, keeping in your memory an intense "royal" day back in mid 18th Century.
