Description of Tour

You will explore one of the most beautiful and best-preserved late medieval cities in Europe on a 3- to 4-hour German-language walking tour, which is individual - so only for you as the person placing the order.

You will get to know the fascinating lower town - the former Hanseatic city - with its merchant and patrician houses, the numerous churches, its winding alleys and the impressive town hall square. The Cathedral Hill - also called Upper Town - impresses with its representative administrative and government buildings, parliament and embassies, the Orthodox Nevsky Cathedral and the Protestant Cathedral Church. From here, at the end of the tour, you will be offered unique views of the Lower Town with its city walls and fortification towers, of modern Tallinn, the offshore islands and the Baltic Sea surrounding everything.

During the tour, you will not only be immersed in Tallinn's history, in which the Germans occupy a special place, but also receive info on the current situation of the country and its inhabitants. Questions are very welcome! In addition, I will be happy to give you practical info for a good café or restaurant off the beaten track, shopping opportunities or other insider tips - if desired.

This tour is suitable for all ages. Breaks can be incorporated at any time if desired. People with physical disabilities are welcome.

First documented in 1154, Tallinn (the old Reval) reflects the centuries with its eventful history. Danes, Swedes, Russians and last but not least Germans ruled here, living here for more than 700 years and influencing the destiny of the country until Nazi Germany ordered them home to the Reich in 1939. Tallinn is a gem. With a population of about 450,000, it is the cultural and economic center of Estonia, which has a total population of only 1.3 million. Because of its very well preserved medieval Hanseatic townscape, Tallinn's Old Town has been placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 2011 Tallinn also held the title of European Capital of Culture.
