On this day tour you will experience the impressive volcanic world of Auckland, get a taste of Maori history and experience the unique landscape of the west coast on a hike, where Maui dolphins, fur seals (Kekeno) and gannets call home.
Impressions of Auckland that you won't find in the guidebook!
We leave the hustle and bustle of the city, along the Kumeu wine region to the beautiful, rugged west coast. Enjoy the unique nature on a walk through mystical rainforest to the 47km long black sand beach.
Strengthen yourself with a picnic overlooking the Tasman Sea and if nature allows, spot Maui dolphins at play, fur seals basking on rocks and about 3000 gannets dedicated to your offspring at Otakamiro Point (August -April).
From here we head back to Auckland to the "City of Sails". We visit Sebastian Point, get a glimpse of Maori history before heading to a cozy beach town area away from mass tourism. There is an opportunity for lunch/coffee with great views of Rangitoto, Auckland's largest volcano and Browns Island.
Finally we visit Maungakieke, Auckland's second largest volcanic mountain. It is an important memorial site for both Maori and other New Zealanders.
Maungakiekie offers magnificent views of the Hauraki Gulf, Auckland City and Rangitoto and rounds off the eventful day before heading back to the city centre
