An absolute must for every traveler who comes to Sardinia is the visit of the nuragic complex of Barumini. On the island there are still about 7,000 Nuraghic buildings: Su Nuraxi in Barumini is the largest and most important and has therefore been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. These megalithic towers, which only exist in Sardinia, are the main protagonists of the Sardinian Bronze Age and still dominate the landscape of the island. After a short walk through the small village of Barumini, visit of the Zapata Palace built in the XVI century on a nuraghe and the small archaeological museum, the Entographic Museum and the Church Immacolata.
When you visit Sardinia one of the must-do things is a trip to the nuragical fortress of Barumini. Over 7,000 stone towers called nuraghi dot Sardinia's landscape, you won't find them enywhere else on Earth; Su Nuraxi in Barumini is the biggest and most important one and therefore it has been declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site. In walking distance from the site is casa Zapata, a palais built in the 16th century residence of the noble Zapata family exactly on top of a nuraghe. The palais hosts a little museum and nearby is the ethnographic museum and the church Immacolata.
