The day begins with the Temple Mount, the biblical Mount Moriah where Abraham was ready to sacrifice Isaac. On the place where Solomon's Temple with the Ark of the Covenant stood, and also the Second Temple of Herod was admired, today stands the Dome of the Rock with its golden dome.
Through the alleys of the Bazaar we reach the Jewish quarter, totally destroyed by the Jordanians in 1948. In the central square we see the Hurva Synagogue and learn why it is called that. We continue to the Burnt House where there is a visual representation of the situation during the Jewish War of 66-70 AD. Then we go to the underground excavations of the Herodian mansions, here we see the luxury of the elites of 2000 years ago.
Below the Temple Mount we see the remains of the gates, stand at Trumpet Corner and see the street shattered by stone blocks in 70.
Now we also stand at the Kotel (Western Wall/Complaint Wall), and everyone can put their note between the huge stones of the wall.
A short walk brings us to the 3000 year old City of David with the excavations, and of course walk through the tunnels - dry or wet (wet tunnel requires shoes for water, bathing suit or quick drying clothes !) Along the tombs of the David dynasty, synagogue and city wall we then go to the City of David Visitor Center.
End of the tour.
