Visit of the historical center of Montepulciano, so called "pearl of Renaissance". Optional stop for wine tasting in a historical winery of Nobile red wine. Than driving for about 30 minutes we will reach Pienza: it's a Unesco Heritage World Site because it represents the "ideal city of Renaissance". Walking tour in the center and visit of the Cathedral inside. Free time for lunch. Local product of Pienza is the Pecorino chease.
Than driving for about 30 minutes we will reach Bagno Vignoni, famous since the roman times for its thermal waters. Than driving for 10 minutes we will reach San Quirico d'Orcia, another interesting town where in the XII century the Emperor Federic I met the Pope officers (local production of olive oil and Orcia red wine).
This tour is an enchanting full immersion in the beauty of the Valdorcia landscape. This area was declared Unesco Heritage World Site for the beautiful landscape never changed during the centuries and it therefore represent the equilibrum between human job and nature. It's caracterised by rounded hills, green or yellow fields pointed by some cipresses. Here the colours change according to the seasons: from the yellow of wheat fields in june to the bright green in printemps, and than in Autumn it's green, yellow and red because of vineyards. This area and its cities were very often set for moovies: the Valdorcia was the set for the "Gladiator" and "The english patient", while Mntepulciano was the set for "Twilight".
This tour is the perfect for art lovers, for the wine lovers and for photography lovers too.
Option: visit of Montalcino it's a possible option. Montalcino is at the western corner of the Valdorcia area and it is famous world wide for its Brunello red wine. But this is an alternative option to Montepulciano, so you may choise. All my tours are costumized on request.
