Description of Tour

During this tour you will have a chance to get acquainted with two popular destinations of Latvia and enjoy magnificent landscapes of the Gauja River Valley.

Sigulda is one of the most picturesque Latvian cities. Even in ancient times, the landscapes captivated painters and romantics. Sigulda is located in an area also called Livonian Switzerland.

During the tour you can take in the scenery, visit the ruins of medieval castles, take the cable car that connects both banks of the Gauja Valley, have a look at the Gutmans Cave and trace the legend of the Rose of Turaida. From the watchtower of Turaida Castle, the charming landscape of the glacial valley opens up to the viewer's gaze.

However, the Gauja National Park is not limited to Sigulda. We continue to the charming provincial town of Cesis.

In the heart of the town is the castle complex. Today, this is one of the most impressive ruined castle ensembles in the Baltics, attracting guests with romantic grace of medieval architecture. Right next to the imposing ruins stands the New Castle, an 18th century manor house. Today it houses the Cesis Museum of Art and History, where the events of the last 800 years are illustrated.
