Description of Tour

Two-hour tour

A walk through the alleys will take you back in time!

The town of Cividale is beautifully located in the near the Slovenian border, surrounded by hilly countryside. The river Natison flows through the town. Cividale is rich in interesting museums such as:

 

1. The Archaeological Museum with many valuable finds from the Longobard period.
2. The Christian Museum with relics and an altar and baptismal font from the 8th century, as well as objects of the patriarchs.
3. The Santa Maria Monastery in Valle with a small church once used by the representative of the Lombard king and called the Lombard temple.

You can sit on a terrace in Cividale and eat in one of the many restaurants, the typical Friulian dishes. Cividale also has a great selection of nice little boutiques for shopping.

The Christian Museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The others are open all week. Please check the exact opening hours.

During the 2 hour guided tour we will visit the most important and interesting art monuments and testimonies from the Longobard period, from the 8th century. The city has also

• Piazza Paolo Diacono, the most beautiful square of Cividale
• The Cathedral from the Renaissance period
• The Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle with the artfully preserved incredible Lombard temple.
• The Devil's Bridge with view on the Natisone River

The entrance fee to the Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle is not included in the booking price!
