Description of Tour

Guadix is located north of Granada and is especially worth seeing because of its cathedral and its cave dwellings. There is tufa rock here, which makes the cave dwellings possible. It is a fascinating, unique landscape that has been used by humans since time immemorial and is still used for cave dwellings.

We will visit the Cave Museum in one of the typical cave quarters, the James Quarter, which is a good example of one of the original human dwellings. There we will learn many interesting things, such as how they were built and used. And we will find that there are still many people living in caves.

From one of the several viewpoints we will get a good impression of the topographical feature of the city.

The visit to the cathedral takes us to the roots of Christianity on the Iberian Peninsula. It is here that disciples of the apostles of Jesus are said to have spread Christianity. The cathedral is a typical example of a church built over 200 years. We find quite a mixture of styles.

Finally, we take a walk through the old town past more historic buildings, which we can end in a typical tapas bar, so that the gastronomic facet is not neglected.
