This is a region which has seen the passage of civilizations. Exploring medieval walled towns, neolithic dolmens and vineyards planted by Romans this is a tour that will transport you as much through time as space.
Starting and finishing in Vitoria we make our way to the medieval walled-village of Antoñana. Time to explore the village and stop for a coffee. Then on through Izki Natural-Park, passing through Bernedo and up into the Sierra de Cantabria via a spectacular mountain pass which affords breathtaking views out over La Rioja. Descending towards the vineyards of La Rioja we call in at the neolithic dolmen "La Chabola de la Hechicera" (The Sorceresse's Shack) before arriving at La Guardia one of the most emblematic towns of La Rioja. Take a leisurely stroll through the cobblestoned streets of this medieval town stopping in any of the numerous bars to sample a glass of Crianza and a "Pintxo". Lunch in one of the restaurants here or you might like to combine lunch with a visit to one of the bodegas. We return to Vitoria crossing the Sierra de Cantabria via El Puerto de Herrera and descending to Peñacerrada and on o Vitoria-Gasteiz
