In ideally small group ( 6-8 pers.) I lead you as Studiosus- experienced tour guide in a personal way through the fascinating cultural landscape of Tuscany.
Starting from the 400 year old, family-run Agricultural estate Il Poggio, surrounded by cypresses and pines, 20 km south of Florence ,we undertake 6 excursions in a comfortable minibus.
It is close to my heart to make the excursions relaxed with all the cultural program,You should enjoy the time !
FLORENCE ( 2 days)
Encounter with the lively Renaissance city !
On a walking tour with visits from S.M.Novella to the market of San Lorenzo to the Piazza Duomo and the most beautiful open-air museum, the Piazza della Signoria, you will learn the turbulent history of the Medici city. During the guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery with a view of the Ponte Vecchio, you will experience the change in the image of man from the Middle Ages to modern times through the eyes of the most important artists .
There will be time for breaks and individual needs. Together we still visit the lively quarter around the church of Santa Croce with the tombs of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, Macchiavelli and Galileo Galilei.
SIENA
After driving through the rolling hills of Chianti, we walk to the most beautiful square in Italy, the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo and visit the Town Hall with its frescoes on the effects of good and bad government, still relevant today !
After a leisurely cafe visit, we visit the Duomo, the beautiful ,fragmentary largest building project of the late Middle Ages.
LUCCA
In the footsteps of Puccini, we stroll through the beautiful traffic-calmed old town to San Michele in Foro with its Romanesque columned portal unique in Tuscany. After a visit to the Cathedral of San Martino, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, and an appropriate break for rest and relaxation, we will have the opportunity to rent bicycles on the completely preserved city walls and enjoy a unique panoramic view over Lucca from a height of 12 metres.
SAN GIMIGNANO
We walk along the city walls with sweeping views over hills and vineyards to the centre of medieval Manhattan with the dizzying residential towers of the old ades and merchant families. We visit the Colleggiata with the enchanting Chapel of Santa Fina. The frescoes by the master of Renaissance painting Domenico Ghirlandaio are the first lifelike portraits in the history of art since antiquity.
At the end of the tour, a wine tasting of Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a good idea.
PISA
We visit one of the oldest and still the most important Italian university towns .In the Piazza dei miracoli, wonderful encounters await us around the leaning bell tower ! In the five-nave cathedral with its graphic marble cladding we can visibly trace the influence of the Orient .It was the model and standard of all the sacred buildings of Tuscany that we have met on our journey. We visit the unusual Campo Santo with Roman and Etruscan sarcophagi. On the way to the sea we sense the former importance of Pisa , as one of the first sea and trade powers.
