Description of Tour

Explore all that the ancient city of Luxor has to offer on this full-day tour. See for yourself why this former capital of Egypt is considered the world's largest open-air museum. Start touring the famous valley of the Kings, Queen Hatshepsut Temple. and the two colossi of Memnon, then proceed to visit the historically rich Karnak complex and Luxor temple.

We will be glad to pick you up from your Luxor hotel, airport or rail station. You will be met by your Egyptologist tour guide and start your tour to visits the valley of the Kings where, for a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th Century BC, tombs were constructed for the Pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom. Travel back in time into the heart of the Theban Necropolis. Gaze in wonder as you are guided through the colorful, elaborately decorated tombs of three famous Pharaohs.

Next, you visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at the valley basin of Deir el-Bahari, surrounded by steep cliffs . The beautiful colonnaded structure is a unique shape, twisting and turning down over 200 meters from the entrance.

Then, visit the two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. The colossi reaching a towering 18 meters in height, and having stood for 3,400 years, make for a breathtaking end to your trip.

After a lunch break, visit the complex of Karnak which is a vast open-air museum, and the largest ancient religious site in the world. Karnak is made up of 4 main precincts dating back to the Middle ages and spanning up to the times of the Ptolemaic. Wander through the intricate carved temples, chapels, pylons, and pillars as your guide explains to you the facts and stories that make up this amazing place.

Proceed to visit Luxor temple, an ancient Egyptian place of worship located in the bank of the Nile. The temple was built in 1400 B.C., and is an impressive work of symbolism and illusionism, with a playful and often disorientating sense of scale. This is a wonderful example of early architecture.

Afterwards head to the aromatic stalls of the Luxor souq for a spot of souvenir shopping. This is an ideal way to finish the tour, taking in the colorful and bustling surroundings of contemporary Luxor, set against the impressive relics of the past.

Then, you will drive back to Your Place of choice
