Bidar is a medieval town of South India located in Karnataka state where people speak Kannada language and it was the capital of Bahamani Kingdom, which was the first independent Islamic kingdom of South India. It is located about 135 Kms from Hyderabad which takes around 3 1/2 hours drive. It has a fort built by the Bahamani Kings when they shifted the capital from Gulbarga to here. Bahamani Kings ruled in the Deccan during 14th to 16th Centuries. They came from Persia and brought with them the towering minarets, enormous domes, huge fortifications, calligraphy, mosaic tiles, art and culture.
