Bike tour: How Hamburg became a city
Away from the major roads, we roam the city center. Comprehensible becomes, how Hamburg developed since the 9th century to the city, also, why the Außenalster was dammed up. We hear about wild peoples and the Hammaburg, about beer brewers, with whom Hamburg became powerful. Then we go to the old harbour, whose foundation is based on the Barbarossa Decree, which was polished up by some smart pepper sacks. Taking a detour to the Speicherstadt and Hafencity still, it finally goes to St. Pauli. Duration: about 3.5 hours
Bike tour to the Alte Land - through Neuenfelde, Cranz and Jork to Buxtehude
Explore the Alte Land with its colorful apple and cherry trees. Start with a half-hour ferry ride from the Landungsbrücken to the Finkenwerder pier. Then continue to Neuenfelde, where you will visit the St. Pancratius Church. At the Este in Cranz the sweet smell of coffee and cake entices you to take a breather in a beautiful garden restaurant. Finally, you reach Jork, where you visit a fruit farm before continuing across old moorland to Buxtehude with its historic old town. The return journey is by S-Bahn to the main station. Discover Wilhelmsburg - across the largest river island in Europe
The tour first leads through the old free port. Then into the Reiherstieg district on the Elbe island of Wilhelmsburg. It impresses with its Gründerzeit buildings and its particularly colorful street life. The tour continues to the Dove Elbe, the Johanna windmill and the newly created Inselpark in the centre of Wilhelmsburg. In the Moorwerder district you will visit the Bunthäuser Spitze, where the North and South Elbe divide, also the Heuckenlock nature reserve, Europe's last tidal floodplain forest. Guided bike tour from Entenwerder and Kaltehofe to the marshland to Fünfhausen and Ochsenwerder
This bike tour leads from the Elbpark Entenwerder over the Elbe island Kaltehofe deep into the marshland of the district Bergedorf. There you follow the course of the Gose- and Dove Elbe. You will see enchantingly beautiful water parks and nature reserves, then also Ochsenwerder and Fünfhausen. You will roam through meadow landscapes, ornate well houses, large windmills, lots of dikes and proud farms that will tell you about the history of the people in this ancient landscape. Bike tour of Ohlsdorfer Friedhof
One of the most beautiful corners in Hamburg is Ohlsdorfer Friedhof. As the largest park cemetery in the world, its horticultural design is so accomplished that it was awarded a Grand Prix at a world exhibition back in 1900. There is hardly any other place where the green wealth of the city can be enjoyed so much! But at the same time, this park is also a treasure chest of history. You will see the grove of honour of the resistance fighters, the memorials for war and persecution, the poets' corner and the gravesites of important Hamburgers. Duration: about 4 hours
Bike tour through the Port of Hamburg from Landungsbrücken to Finkenwerder
With its quays, bridges and canals, the Port of Hamburg offers many unusual views of developments in our city. This tour starts at the Old Elbe Tunnel at the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken. From there we continue to the old free port with its old harbour basins, railway tracks, cranes and sheds.
Further stops are the Wilhelmsburg Reiherstieg quarter, which was created in connection with the founding of the Hamburg free port from 1890. After a break we cycle to Moorburg and the Altenwerder container terminal and finally on to Finkenwerder, from where we return by ferry. Duration: about 6 hours
Bike tour from Bergedorf through the Vierlande
Bergedorf and the Vierlande are great for cycling. On the tour through the Vierlande you will see the old Bergedorf castle, old village cultures, magnificent old village churches, historic landscapes, the old Marschenbahndamm with a train station, the Zollenspieker Fährhaus, the Riepenburger Mühle, the Elbe, Curslack and Neuengamme. In the open-air museum Rieckhaus you will learn a lot about the history of the people who once turned this area into a beautiful flourishing landscape. At the Schleusengraben you will see the first artificial waterway in Germany, which was built in the early 15th century. You will also pass the memorial site of the former concentration camp Neuengamme. Duration: about 4.5 to 5 hours
Bike tour along the Wandse in Hamburg Wandsbek
Wandsbek is not only the largest district of Hamburg, it also offers a wealth of uniquely beautiful landscapes that invite you to explore by bike. On this tour through the green along the Wandse you will see architectural treasures, enjoy beautiful park and water landscapes, a botanical garden and old industrial canals. You will see numerous monuments commemorating Carl von Schimmelmann. Along the Berner Au you continue through the Berner Wald to Farmen and Volksdorf. The return journey is by underground. Bike tour through the Speicherstadt and Hafencity
The Hamburgers are proud of their Speicherstadt, futuristic, but quite controversial is the Hafencity emerging behind it. The grows and in the newly developed areas, arises an interesting mix of different types of housing with a lot of variety. Then it goes still over the Elbe to the port museum at the Bremer quay. Bike tour along the Alster and through the Hummelsbüttler Moore
The bike tour starts in Ohlsdorf, from where you follow the Alstertal to the Susebek and Mellingbek. Along the way are a wide variety of landscapes and cultural areas. You will see historic farms, beautiful ponds and the picturesque Alstertal. You will pass old locks and stately mansions as well as the castle in Henneberg. At the height of Mellingstedt you will then head towards Hummelsbüttel, from where you will cycle back to the starting point through moorland formed during the ice age. Duration: about 4.5 hours
