I was born in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in 1976. At the age of 16, I moved to Florida where I graduated from high school in Boca Raton. I moved back to Rio in 2005 and I got my University degree in Tourism - University Estácio De Sá. Completed the Guides course at Marc- Apoio, which is one of the few guides school recognized by the government in Brazil (EMBRATUR).
There are many reasons why I chose to be a guide: first of all, I LOVE WHAT I DO!!! I also like to show my city to different people that come from all over the world and in the same time, get to know different personalities and cultures, every day of work is a different history, that's what makes it more interesting and challenging.
SOME FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE ORGANIZING YOUR PRIVATE TOUR IN RIO:
1- Our high season is from December to April, when we have lots of cruise ships in town coming from all the continents, this affects the waiting time to see the most two important sightseeing in town, Sugar loaf and Christ Statue at Corcovado mountain, the waiting time in line to those places can take up to 3 hrs each, so if you have only few hours or one day in town just choose one of it because there are many others things to be seeing in the city.
2- Rio de Janeiro has a huge traffic problem during all year long and there is no such time as rush hours, traffic is bump to bump all day long, average time during the week days can be 1 hr to drive only 10km (6 miles), this may affect the duration of your tour and the places you want to see.
3- Summer time in Rio (December to March) does not mean we will have sunshine days, in fact, it's our raining season, the visibility in sights such as Sugar Loaf and Corcovado might not be as what you have seen in the post cards.
I have been working in the tourism industry since 2005 .
2008 I completed the guides course to become a licensed tour guide in Rio,since than, I`ve been working for dozens of different tour agencies in Rio and also through my private website.
