Description of Tour
Since I don’t live in Ronda, I’d be happy to meet you there. (* If you’d like to be picked up from one of the coastal towns, I can arrange that for you. Just ask!)
Rainer Maria Rilke, the famous poet, called Ronda the “city of dreams”! But Ronda is also known as the “Lady of the White Villages” and is situated in a breathtaking landscape, the Serrania de Ronda, which means “Mountains of Ronda.” The gorge carved out by the Guadalevin River millions of years ago bears witness to the city’s development, from the Romans and the Arabs to its status in recent years as one of Andalusia’s most visited cities. The Puente Nuevo, or New Bridge, is the city’s landmark, and following its construction in the late 18th century, the modern Mercadillo district developed. Ronda is also synonymous with bullfighting: as the cradle of modern tauromaquia—the art of bullfighting—it is home to the oldest and certainly most beautiful bullring in Spain.
In the area around Ronda, there is a bull ranch where we can organize a private visit (price not included and must be paid separately)—certainly an interesting option if you are traveling with children, as they can experience how the bulls live in their natural habitat.
For wine lovers, I can organize visits to local wineries, complete with traditional tapas, or a visit to an organic olive oil mill.
