Description of Tour

With around 1400 architectural monuments from the Middle Ages, Lüneburg is truly a treasure trove. The Hanseatic city on the north-eastern edge of the Lüneburg Heath owes all this to its former salt production.nbsp; Today it is known for its student life with the second highest density of pubs in Europe,nbsp; the television series gt;Rote Rosenlt; and as a Christmas town with many Christmas markets in the run-up to Christmas. Our 6.5 km tour takes us to many of the sights, including the Stintmarkt, the water district, the famous town hall, St. Johanniskirche with its leaning tower and the water tower with its old technology. But we also visit quiet oases such as the Rathausgarten, the Kreidebergsee, the Liebesgrund and climb the Kalkberg to enjoy a wide panorama of the city from above.nbsp;nbsp;

Requirements

The tour is 6.5 km long in total and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on the pace of the group and the number of questions that may be asked. The ascent of the Kalkberg is via stairs. The tour is not suitable for people with limited mobility. Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring dogs. The tour begins and ends at the train station. However, the last section of the route can be changed on request so that the tour ends at the water tower.
