Discover the changes Hamburg underwent over the centuries on this 2-hour tour. Explore the historical locations between St. Michaelis church and the Hamburg Town Hall (Rathaus) e.g. the modern HafenCity, including St. Nicholas’s Church, Speicherstadt (warehouse disctrict), and the Elbe Philharmonic Hall.
Our guided walk starts in front of St. Michaelis church and takes you along historical places such as Trostbrücke (bridge of consolation), the former St. Nikolai Church, Hamburg’s memorial for the victims of WWII and tyranny, the Dike Street (Deichstrasse) with original houses of 17th century. Main part of this tour certainly is the Warehouse district (Speicherstadt) with its fantastic brick architecture, where amongst others the Hamburg Dungeon and Miniature Wonderland are located. Finally we will reach the castle like City Hall (Rathaus)
You will obtain more information about the old and new Hamburg, the time of the Hanseatic League as well as the reasons for the development from a medieval town with narrow alleys and walkways to a modern port city.
