This two-day ride takes us in a sweeping arc around the village of Prado del Rey. We start at the horse farm and ride first to El Bosque, the neighbouring village 6 km away in the Natural Park Sierra de Grazalema. We picnic with local cheese and wine specialties at a restored water mill, which has been restored with great attention to detail and now operates again only with the water power of the little river Majaceite.
After the break we cross the river and ride across the pastures of a large cattle finca, where we have a magnificent view of the natural park. Beyond the pastures, Prado del Rey appears again, this time from the other side, and we leave the horses in a paddock at the hotel.
The second day takes us first through olive groves up the mountain pass below the ruins of the old Moorish fortress Castillo Matrera. The following descent offers magnificent views over the surrounding villages of Bornos, Villamartin and Montellano. At the Shrine of Villamartín, the Ermita de las Montañas we have a picnic with Andalusian ham and sherry. The rest of the route takes us through fields, overlooking the reservoir of Bornos, back to the riding farm. Daily riding time about 5 and 4 hours.
