From the Romans who first brought the vines to Bordeaux, to Eleanor of Aquitaine who never traveled without a barrel even to the Holy Land, from the global wine trade in the 17th century, all through the famous Classification of 1855, Bordeaux rose to international fame and fortune. I will present a high-level glance of how Bordeaux gained the prominence it still enjoys today and explain what is behind a modern glass of Bordeaux wine. We will visit the Place de la Bourse, the key to the wine trade of Bordeaux, and then continue our story comfortably in a wine bar during a wine tasting.
